The Role of Magic Systems in Fantasy Literature

When it comes to the magic system, if we call it the cornerstone of fantasy literature, it helps build the storyline and the characters and shapes the magic world. Many stories portray different types of magic systems.

In some books, there is the cold magic system, and the readers usually do not get the full information about the magic system and its rules. The authors mostly keep the readers unaware of the background of the magic world.

On the other hand, there is a hard magic system. In this, the authors properly explain everything to the readers. The reason for each magic, its rules and limitations and the scientific explanation are mentioned in the story, and the character development is fascinating.

Another type of magic is the hybrid magic system. Most of the time, the stories that are written on the basis of this let the readers know about the rules and limitations of magic. On the other hand, sometimes the reason or the concept of the magic is not defined properly; the biggest example is the Harry Potter series.
